Steve is surprised. Bucky doesn't sound great but he's not obviously angry. He's also letting him up which is encouraging. Steve doesn't question it and takes note of the number of Bucky's apartment before racing inside. He skips the elevator and takes the stairs three at a time, almost tripping once in his eagerness to get to the other's door.
He knows what he's going to say. It's a lot of 'sorry' with some begging for forgiveness and another chance. Because God he wants another chance. Steve's just found someone he feels like he could spend a lifetime with and has fucked it up in one day. He has to at least give this a good try. He'll never forgive himself if he doesn't.
At Bucky's door, Steve bangs hard against it. Too hard since he makes a dent in the wood and. Yeah. Good start, Rogers. He hisses at himself and opts for his voice instead.
"Bucky, it's me. Steve," just in case. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. Please can I explain myself? Please?"
